The most important step is never try to convince him or her in getting back to the relationship.
Too many guys think they must pursue their ex’s. They send hundreds of texts, call at odd hours of the day, and even stalk their ex girlfriend’s home. They send flowers and gifts.
Never give any wrong impression to your ex. Specially if you’re a man and you’re trying to appease your girlfriend, never show your desperation to her. Women don’t like men who are not sure about themselves and those who lack in confidence.

Let your ex fall for you and come back to you instead of you being desperate in getting her or him back to you.
When you are in a group that includes her, flirt with every girl but her. If she has an enemy in the group, pay special attention to that girl. By ignoring your ex, you make her want to come back to you. You are reminding her of all of your charms, but not applying them to her.
You can take all initiative to make your ex feel jealous. Let him or her know that you have already started dating someone else in a very subtle way. This will surely make your ex feel jealous and he or she may show some indication of coming back to you or of patching up the relation.
However, if you are not happy in doing all that, you can still have another option to win over your ex. You can show your ex that you’re happy and content.
By giving more time to yourself and by doing those things that you keep you happy will benefit you in long run rather than putting all your effort and attention on your ex.
Keep yourself as engaged as possible. Do all the things that you have always wanted to do but never got time. Try to be happy even if you don’t feel the same from inside. Gradually you will feel the difference.
If you follow these steps, you will end up being a happy and content. Whether you are able to win over your love or not is a different issue, but you can at least overcome the trauma of a break-up.
